Family playing on the beach

If this is your first time trying a family vacation in an RV, you are in for a fun adventure! Your children will remember this for years as a great family adventure. As you prepare, you may have a few questions like “What kind of food will we eat?” “How will car seats work?” “Will there be enough storage for our luggage?” “Where will we stay?” And, probably the most prominent, “Will my children be safe?”

Preparing Family Meals in an RV

Wandering Travel Blog said it best: “Cooking in an RV is pretty much like cooking anywhere else, it just takes a bit more prep work. With a little planning you will be able to whip up anything you may have made in your “normal” kitchen.” You have a fridge and a microwave. You have closable storage for canned goods. If you buy for 2-3 days at a time, you will avoid waste and be able to enjoy fresh meat and produce as you go! (PLUS, you’ll save on the out-to-eat cost!) For added family fun, plan to cook outside over an open fire at least one night!

What we stock:

    • Pots, pans, baking pans, and lids

    • Coffee maker & toaster

    • Plates, cups, & bowls

    • Flatware & cooking utensils

    • Plate drying rack & pad

    • Mattress pads for sleeping areas

What you should bring:

    • Bath & Dish Towels

    • Bed linens, blankets, and pillows (we also rent these!)

    • Dish soap and sponges

    • Paper towels or napkins

    • Trash bags

    • Surface Cleaner

Family Storage in an RV

Every RV you rent has ample storage including storage cabinets inside and outside. Your luggage can easily stow away while you are driving. Your “mobile vacation home” is perfect for family travel! No chance of accidentally leaving something at the hotel and having to double back!

Family Safety in an RV

The dinette setup in your RV collapses to reveal bench seats with seat belts. This is the best place for you to latch in the kids’ car seats. Remember: NJ car seat law says children under 8 should be in a car seat, and this includes RVs. We suggest you utilize the right hand lane for the duration of your travel, for safety and courtesy purposes.

We stock a first aid kit in every RV. If you add the bike rack onto your reservation, don’t forget to bring helmets for bicycle adventures!

Family-Friendly Campgrounds

When you stay in an RV campground, you are surrounded by other families on their family vacation. Everyone is happy and relaxed and excited about having a great week! Children can play together at campground amenities and make new friends! This is the most relaxed way to travel: No flight schedule, no rental car hassle, no hotels to check in/out of. Your kids will enjoy the lack of stress as much as you do!

Most campgrounds offer a 24 hour office contact for added peace of mind and security to you. Some also have a small campground store for basic needs.

If you need help finding campgrounds or planning your route, let us know! We’d be happy to set you up with our trip-planning team before your rental starts!

Your family is going to love traveling this way! It will be an enjoyable experience for every adult and child! In fact, why not add in grandparents and caravan? What better way to reconnect your family than through #RVlife?
